Way back when
It was back in 1954 when Ernesto Costa gained the licence to Villa Kostner enabling him to rent out furnished apartments. Together with his father and uncle he put in the hard work and, aided by talent and vision, by 1956 he was able to open the hotel which from its very moment of opening became known as La Perla. A few years on and Ernesto marries Anni and a new creative force emerges: flower arrangements, curtains like nowhere else, rooms designed to a high standard, and perhaps most importantly of all a relationship of great friendship with guests. of ‘La Casa’.
At La Perla there is space and time for all: the mountains, relaxation, time dedicated to family, and even the dance evenings at Club 44. Ernesto and Anni were to be blessed with three sons: Michil, Mathias and Maximilian. The joyful laughter of the infant boys exploring every hidden corner and alcove of the hotel becomes the expression of grown men, who with their own thoughts and ideas give expression in ever greater form to the ‘Family Way’ nurtured by their parents. Cuisine becomes a leading light of La Perla and the conferring of a Michelin star and other prizes makes of La Stüa de Michil, its name recalling the eldest of the sons and his input in this initiative, a point of pride and attraction.
The wine cellar Mahatma Wine. L’Murin and the hotel bar become distinctive elements of the hotel offer thanks to sons Mathias and Maximilian. Great success, great challenges primarily due to fires in 1975 and 1997 mark the story of this hotel and the Costa Family. One great objective achieved is membership of the prestigious Hotel Chain The Leading Hotels of the World and another has been the creation of the Costa Family Foundation set up to help children of Tibet.
Anni e Ernesto remain as ever the soul of this pearl in the shadow of The Dolomites, which each and every day gifts emotion and satisfaction to its guests.
