Val Badia to the rhythm of Jazz

There are countless trails and footpaths to discover the beauty of a valley. You can immerse yourselves amongst the woodland trees and climb to high altitudes, or follow the course of mountain streams and find yourselves in meadows with grazing cows. You can walk on the imaginary line that joins the bell tower to the spire and find a new balance between the churches, chapels and shrines that watch over the mountain valleys. You can clock up kilometers on your bike, or drift along guided by the movement of the clouds.

“Val Badia Jazz Festival, a calendar of events in the summer months with music, culture and nature.”
For many years in Val Badia there has been a way, even a mood that’s alternative and yet very intriguing, to discover the wonders that are here and that’s to follow the musical notes that echo from the most unexpected parts of the valley and find yourselves in a piazza, in a mountain refuge , in a hotel or restaurant and breathe in not only the fresh mountain air but also wonderful music! This is the Val Badia Jazz Festival that for seventeen years has reaffirmed that well known concept - music has no boundaries. It shows how jazz, with all its influences and derivations, is in perfect harmony with the Dolomites.
This year the Festival, created by Chris Costa and organized in collaboration with Uniun Musicala y Culturala Ladin, is putting on a show of diverse musical styles ranging from jazz to tango, from rock to country, from marchin’ band to first rate singer-songwriters. The Festival welcomes musicians for the most part born in the Ladino valleys or in Alto Adige, confirming that even music can be locally produced and of the highest quality too. During July and August there are a number of concert dates that follow one another along the entire valley, and Casa is ready to host one of the most interesting voices of the Val Badia, that of the fascinating Laura Willeit which, on Saturday, August 8th  will resonate in our Bistrot starting at 21.00.  It’s an exceptional  quartet with Laura on vocals, Piero Pegoretti piano, Michi Kröss bass, Bruno Miorandi drums and their repertoire which consists of original numbers and classics of Billie Holiday, George Gershwin, Duke Ellington, is nothing less than a musical journey that will take you back in time to the beginning of the last century, when Blues and Jazz were the beat of the music. Before the concert a dinner will be served up featuring locally produced ingredients with a good mix  of  good humour and friendliness, to show that in our valley hospitality has a well-defined sound, where nature together with culture will always find ways of bringing out the best of themselves.
