Piano Bar

Unbeknown to me the ice in my glass keeps in rhythm with the drums of an enthusiastic jazzman. Elsewhere in other glasses mint leaves play fiercely with cane sugar as scantily clad dancers jive to the beat. A tiny tot of grappa finds its way to my hand whilst I focus on much at once - on the far reaching notes of a new singer, the small and pleasurable chat of friends and relatives, the arrival and departure of a guest or two. Notwithstanding all I still take in the endeavours of Marco, the calm and expertise of that rock behind the bar. Bottles and cups, liquors and fruits, cocktails and all.

What a performance! I like The Piano Bar. The lights are dimmed, new acquaintances have become firm friends in the space of a day or two and the smiling face of friends and the gentle movements on the dance floor are all a pleasure to me.
